About Spong.org
Spong.org is a community of people. What started out as a personal website back in 1999, has grown into a community of websites of friends and families.
Sites such as slashdot.org, geeknik.net, and techbargains.com were all inspirations for Steven to create his own BLOG system. After much research, he looked into blogging distros such as phpnuke.org, postnuke.com, and moveabletype.org. But they all delivered more featurs than what Steven really wanted. So he decided to write his own.
Friends and family members all received free accounts because spong.org is a project in the works. The project has been coined spongblog for the time being. It at first was a project built using PHP with a MySQL database on a Red Hat Fedora server. As of recently, the project has been moved onto ASP.net with a MS SQL database hosted by 1and1.com.
Membership on spong.org is currently not available to the public and will not be for the forseeable future. If you are not a member, please do not email in asking for membership. Spong.org is just a single project in the works. New projects may spawn off this one which may be open to the public.
